Using the Search Sidebar

You'll find a handy Search sidebar in the left-hand margin of the results list, document display page, and the About this Publication page. What you can do with the Search sidebar depends on which screen you are currently using:

Perform a new search without having to first return to a search input page, as described below (this feature is available whenever you see the Search sidebar)
On the search results list page, search for term(s) within your current search results and/or narrow (limit) your current search results to certain kinds of results; for example, you may be able to show only results for a particular subject term or document type (depends on which database you are using and which results tab you are viewing)
Search within a publication (which may include the option of searching within all volumes or all editions, depending on the database you are using) from the About this Publication page or from the document display page
Select a related subject term while viewing a document on the document display page

Performing a New Search Using the Search Sidebar

Enter term(s) in the Find box and click to remove the checkmark in the within these results or within this publication check box. Then click GO to perform a search of the database and display search results.
