The Search sidebar, found in the left-hand margin of the results list, allows you to:
To search within your results (all tabs are searched), enter a word or phrase in the input box. (If the within these results check box is empty, click to place a checkmark.) You may use AND, OR, and NOT to create logical (Boolean) expressions. Then click the GO button. Refer to the following sample screen print:

To display only results of a certain type or within a certain category, use the Narrow Results by drop-down list. Make a selection, such as "Subjects" or "Publication Title" or "Document Type" (the actual choices you find depend on the database you are searching and the content found in your results). The Search sidebar will refresh itself and display a dynamic list of the subjects (or whatever you selected) that are currently found in the results tab you are viewing. In the sample screen print above, the system is showing the titles of works that are referenced in your results for the current tab. The system will also display the number of results in parentheses. Click a hyperlinked term and results number to view just those results. By default you will see 25 of whatever category you selected to narrow your results by. You can expand the list to 50 or 100 using the radio buttons.
For each Narrow Results by selection you make, a Remove Limit by link will appear at the bottom of the Search sidebar, as shown below. Clicking that link will remove the narrow by limiter. Continuing with the example from above, the Biography document type was selected, so the results tab will display only documents of type Biography. Clicking the TY ("Biography") link will restore the results list to its complete set of results.
