Dr Jerome Roche

A concert in celebration of the life and work of Dr Jerome Roche, musicologist, was held yesterday in Durham Cathedral. Past and present members of Schola Cantorum with Mr Andrew King, tenor, accompanied by Mr Alan Thurlow, sang a programme of 16th and 17th century music associated with the years when Dr Roche founded and conducted the choir. Miss Marie Wiegold, soprano, and Mr Alex Peterkin, baritone, sang the solos in Faure's Requiem. The programme was directed by Dr Jeremy Dibble and Mr Giles Brightwell. Mr Derek Downes led the orchestra; Mr James Lancelot played the organ.
