GRAMMAR SCHOOL SPORTS. The breaking of a 27 year old record for the mile and the equal- i ling of two other records were the l highlights of the Dover Boys' County Grammar School sports, held on Wednesday afternoon, be- fore a large crowd of old boys' and parents as well as the boys. Several : days of rain had preceded the sports and it appeared that the old tradi- tion, of never cancelling the event beet use of rain would be broken. In spite of heavy rain beforehand, how- ever, which made the going a little heavy, none of the events were can- celled, although one or two races were run off in a slight drizzle. V. E. Carr, of Maxton House, who won the mile in 5 mins. 3-sth sees., beating the School record of 5 mins. 3 l-sth sees., set up in 1921 by A. J. Horrex, made a fine spurt near the end of the course, gaining a lead which he maintained for several hundred yards, to make a grand finish.
