The Kyoto International Manga Museum is hosting an entire exhibition dedicated to Hisashi Eguchi, one of Japan's most prominent manga artists.
Best known for his series "Susume!! Pirates" and "Stop!! Hibari-kun!," Eguchi has been called a leading "pop art" innovator of manga. This exhibition traces 38 years of the artist's work, through more than 300 exhibits that include advertisements, magazine and book covers, CD jackets and film character designs.
There will also be an opportunity to see Eguchi at a live-sketching event on June 11 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., when he will draw portraits of the lucky winners of a lottery.
