Race Relations

The word race refers to a group of people who share certain physical characteristics, such as skin color. The division of people into races—caucasian, black, Asian, and so forth—is somewhat artificial. Although it is possible to use genetic techniques to identify different groups within the human family, these groups do not correspond to racial and ethnic categories. Nor can race be defined precisely in terms of appearance.
