Abstract :

Background: This clinical trial involves 74 qualified primiparous women admitted for labor in Lolagar hospital of Tehran, Iran. They were randomly categorized into two groups: case (Aloe vera ointment) and control groups (usual hospital protocol). Objective: Participant's pain recorded using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and Redness, Edema, Ecchymosis, Discharge and Approximation Scale (REEDA). Results: Pain was evaluated at 4h, 8h, 12h and 5 days following episiotomy and wound healing was evaluated 4h and 5 days after episiotomy. Collected data was analyzed in SPSS 16 using an independent t-test and chi-square.
