Introduction: This treaty was adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 18, 1979, and serves as a women's bill of rights. The Convention defines discrimination and provides a map for the development of gender equality in all aspects of life. Member nations are bound to work toward this equality, allowing for the complete exercise of human rights and freedoms by women.
